I took my tutoring students to the mall to do their “café drawings”. They were nervous about drawing in public, like a SWAT team was gonna pop out and arrest us, but naturally, nothing of the sort happened.
Also happened to brush up on my own life drawing in the process and here’s some pics.
We were all enamored with the dude w/ glasses on this page. Such great expressions and gestures (he had a friend sitting across from him, so he was in conversation). I really wanted to stress to them the importance of capturing what it is about the person that caught your attention. Their pose? Expression? Style? It was fun seeing them get frustrated over their chosen models moving or walking out of their line of sight. Hopefully it’ll teach them to sketch faster.
