GOODNEWS THO: I got a new job :) I officially left my job last month (my last day was the 19th), and I’m feeling quite wonderful.
My new job is, surprise(?), teaching still, but NOT in education/a school. It’s at a studio that’s going to open up next month. The mission is to focus on using/teaching art as therapy/healing/expression. And building community! I really like my new boss, and I’ve really enjoyed the anticipation of building my new smaller curriculum…Oh, and the best part? ONLY 8 STUDENTS PER CLASS! What a joy.
Well, the real best part is probably the pay. Maybe one day, this country will love and appreciate teachers. Alas.
These last few days have been busy, yet relaxing. I am enjoying my time off before work begins in a way that simply was impossible to do before I quit. Holiday breaks and weekends were spent in sleep debt and dread of the oncoming Monday. I never want to feel that way about teaching ever again: it was such a passion at the beginning. Something that drove me into ambition and made me happy. I want to discover that again. I have faith that I will with this new job. More updates to come!
